Multi-vehicle crash on Valley View near I-635 kills off-duty cop

IRVING, TX – A collision involving at least two vehicles killed an-off duty police officer in Irving late Friday afternoon, reports Fox 4 KDFW. 

The incident occurred just after 4:30 p.m. on Valley View Lane near I-635, which is near Sam Houston Trail Park and TW Richardson Grove.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a driver struck the victim on his motorcycle, likely after neglecting to yield the right of way to the biker.

Medics transported the victim, whom they’ve identified as Jerome Scholz, to an area hospital. Sholz died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.

Prior to his death, Sholz worked for five years at the Irving Police Department.

A full investigation is underway.
