3 killed, 1 arrested in multi-vehicle crash at US-281 and Roosevelt

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Three people died, and another sustained injuries Saturday in a multi-vehicle crash on the south side of San Antonio, reports KSAT.

The accident happened shortly before 5 a.m. at the junction of US-281 and Roosevelt Avenue, which is just northeast of Mission Del Lago Golf Course.

Police say that a hit-and-run driver rear-ended a vehicle carrying a 61-year-old man and his two adult daughters. This initial collision pushed the second vehicle into the path of a third vehicle, causing an additional collision.

The three occupants of the vehicle that was rear-ended died at the scene. Authorities identified the victims as Juan Pablo Salas, 25-year-old Leslie Salas, and 22-year-old Yareli Salas.

Medics transported the driver of the third vehicle to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

The driver that caused the crash fled on foot. Police apprehended and arrested him shortly thereafter. They’ve not yet announced charges.

A full investigation is underway.
