Man and woman struck, killed on Hwy 359 north of Tynan
BEE CO., TX – A man and a woman died last Friday morning when a vehicle struck them along a rural highway in southwest Bee County, reports KRIS 6 News.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. on Highway 359 near the city of Tynan. This is about 43 miles northwest of Corpus Christi.
Police say that 22-year-old Marina Ramirez and 30-year-old Steven Gamez were walking across the highway following an earlier crash when a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado hit them.
Ramirez had been involved in an earlier crash in which her northbound 2016 Kia Forte rear-ended a 2017 Mack garbage truck. Gamez was helping Ramirez to exit her vehicle and walk to safety when the second accident occurred.
Both Ramirez and Gamez died at the scene.
Officials closed Highway 359 for more than five hours while emergency teams gathered evidence and worked at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
