Man that caused 5-vehicle crash at Preston and Lovers charged
DALLAS, TX – Police have announced charges in connection to a multi-vehicle crash that killed a Dallas woman and injured a teen last Friday, reports CBS News.
The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Preston Road and Lovers Lane in the University Park area of north-central Dallas.
Officials say that 32-year-old Alexis Ruiz ran a red light in his Chevy Silverado, causing a chain-reaction crash that ultimately involved five vehicles.
One of the other drivers involved in the wreck sustained fatal injuries. Authorities identified her as 44-year-old Ana Gonzalez Perez.
Medics transported a male teen to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas with critical injuries.
Police arrested Ruiz after he fled the scene of the accident on foot. Ruiz faces charges that include crash involving injury or death.
The investigation is ongoing.
