Elderly man killed in rear-end crash on US-77 near Odem

SAN PATRICIO CO., TX – An elderly man sustained fatal injuries last week in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in south-central San Patricio County, reports kiii 3 News.

The accident happened Wednesday on US-77 just north of Odem. This is about 23 miles northwest of Corpus Christi.

Police say that speed was likely a factor when a southbound vehicle rear-ended another southbound vehicle along the highway.

The driver that caused the wreck died at the scene. Authorities identified him as 80-year-old Larry Wilkerson of Odem.

It’s unclear if the 27-year-old driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries in the collision.

A full investigation is underway.
