D. Calvert, D. Overton, E. Carroll killed in Panhandle crash
CARSON CO., TX – A wrong-way crash along the highway in southwest Carson County killed four people Wednesday, reports KGNC News.
The accident happened just west of Panhandle on Highway 60. This is about 28 miles northeast of Amarillo.
Police say that an eastbound 2021 Jeep Compass entered the westbound side of Highway 60 and collided head on with a westbound 2012 Ford Fusion. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to ignite.
Three adults and one minor sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Authorities identified the adult victims as 81-year old David Calvert Jr., 20-year old Daylee Overton, and 19-year old Emma Carroll. A 17-year-old boy also died.
A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
