Robert and Marry Dennis killed in 2-vehicle crash in Hale Co.
HALE CO., TX – An elderly couple from Olton died Saturday in a crash involving a semi-truck along the highway in northwest Hale County, reports Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
The accident happened just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of FM 179 and US-70. This is between Olton and Plainview and about 50 miles north of Lubbock.
Police say that a 2022 Chevrolet pickup collided with an eastbound 1997 Peterbilt semi on US-70 when the driver of the Chevy failed to yield while making a left turn from FM 179 northbound.
Both occupants of the Chevy died from injuries sustained in the crash, while the truck driver was uninjured.
Authorities identified the victims as 96-year-old Robert Curtis Dennis and 89-year-old Mary Hatley Dennis. Robert Dennis was not wearing a seatbelt when accident occurred.
