Shelley Jewell, 66, claimed in head-on crash near Bowie
MONTAGUE CO., TX – A wrong-way crash along US-81 in southwest Montague County killed one person and injured two others on Saturday morning, reports MyTexasDaily.Com.
The incident occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway near Fruitland Road. This is just southeast of Bowie and about 65 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound 2013 Kia Soul entered the northbound side of US-81 and collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Tahoe was carrying two adults and two children. Medics transported one child and one adult from the vehicle to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
The unrestrained wrong-way driver, identified as 66-year-old Shelley Gene Jewell, died at the scene.
