Alexa Krynicki, 22, and 2 others injured in DWI crash near TTU

LUBBOCK, TX – Three people were hurt Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash that happened during a police chase in central Lubbock, reports everythingLubbock.

The accident occurred when a reckless driver fled from an attempted police stop shortly before 7 p.m. near the intersection of University Avenue and 19th Street.

Police say the suspect’s vehicle collided with another vehicle and that the suspect did not stop to render aid and speak with officials.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck, identified as 22-year-old Alexa Krynicki, went to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

The suspect driver crashed into a fence, at which point both he and a teen passenger fled police on foot. Authorities ultimately apprehended the driver and the passenger.

Medics transported the teen to UMC with moderate injuries.

Police arrested the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Xavier Borunda, on multiple charges, including DWI, UCW, evading, and failure to stop and render aid. They say that Borunda sustained minor injuries. It’s unclear if he required hospitalization.

A full investigation is underway.
