Alfonso Alvarez Jr., 25, killed in Hopkins Co. crash with semi

SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX – A man died Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi along a major roadway on the southwest side of Sulphur Springs, reports KETK News.

The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. along westbound Industrial Drive between Gosset Lane and Rockdale Road. This is east of TX-11 and about 80 miles northeast of Dallas.

Police say that the driver of a westbound 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe was likely speeding when he rear-ended a westbound 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Chevy, identified as 25-year-old Alfonso Alvarez Jr., died at the scene of the wreck.

Nobody in the semi-truck was hurt.

A full investigation is underway.
