Arlen Vargas, 39, struck, killed by semi at Seguin factory

SEGUIN, TX – A 39-year-old Houston man died last Friday night in an accident involving an 18-wheeler at a bottling factory in central Guadalupe County, reports KHOU 11.

The incident occurred in the loading dock of Niagara Bottling, which is located at 1730 8th Street in Seguin. This is about 36 miles northeast of San Antonio.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had parked his own semi near the loading dock while he awaited a shipment. The victim was standing near the loading dock when another 18-wheeler backed into him, crushing him against the wall of the dock.

The victim died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Arlen Vargas, beloved husband and father to seven kids.

Officials say the other truck driver backed into the dock after receiving confirmation that it was appropriate to do so. He is unlikely to face charges in connection to the incident.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Our team of news bloggers will keep apprised of the story and report back if we learn more about the circumstances of the event.
