Darrel Hudson, 54, struck on bicycle, killed near Levelland
HOCKLEY CO., TX – A 54-year-old cyclist sustained fatal injuries Wednesday when a vehicle struck him in central Hockley County, reports everythingLubbock.
Shortly before 6 p.m., emergency teams responded to West State Road 300, just east of Kelly Road. This is just southwest of Levelland and about 30 miles west of Lubbock.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a westbound vehicle rear-ended a man on this bicycle.
The bicyclist died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Darrel Keith Hudson of Levelland.
It’s unclear if the 22-year-old driver involved in the crash will face charges.
Authorities speculate that the driver’s vision may have been impaired by the setting sun.
