Virginia Castano-Marquez, 64, killed in Lubbock collision

LUBBOCK, TX – A 64-year-old woman died last Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash along the highway in northeast Lubbock, reports everythingLubbock.

The accident happened in the afternoon on the eastbound side of US-62 at East County Road 6300, or East Kent Street. This is southeast of Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.

Police say that one eastbound vehicle rear-ended another that was stopped along the shoulder, causing both cars to leave the highway.

The unrestrained driver of the stopped vehicle died at the scene of the collision. Authorities identified her as Virginia Castano-Marquez.

Medics transported the other driver to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
