Markeveon Miller, 20, claimed in high-speed crash near I-45
HOUSTON, TX – A 20-year-old Houston man sustained fatal injuries Friday in what police say may have been a street-racing incident, reports Click 2 Houston.
The accident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on the northbound service road for I-45, just past West Gulf Bank Road. This is on the north side of the city in the Hidden Valley neighborhood.
Authorities say that both a black Pontiac G6 sedan and a blue Mercedes Benz 320 sedan were speeding when they exited the northbound side of the freeway at West Gulf Bank Road. The driver of the Pontiac lost control of his vehicle and hit the curb, causing the car to overturn several times alongside the roadway.
The driver died after transport to an area hospital. Officials identified him as Markeveon Miller.
The driver of the Mercedes did not sustain injuries. Police say he initially left the scene but later returned to answer questions.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
A full investigation is underway.
