Wrong-way crash near Olton claims David Diaz Jimenez, 67

LAMB CO., TX – An elderly man died early Saturday in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in northeast Lamb County, reports KCBD 11.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m. on US-70 near County Road 291. This is just west of Olton and about 52 miles northwest of Lubbock.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a westbound pickup truck entered the eastbound lanes of the highway and collided head-on with an eastbound minivan.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 67-year-old David Diaz Jimenez, died after transport to a hospital in Lubbock.

Medics transported the teen driver of the minivan to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

A passenger in the minivan was unhurt.

A full investigation is underway.
