Andres Casarez, 52, killed in San Antonio pedestrian crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A 52-year-old man died Friday night when a vehicle struck him along the interstate in central San Antonio, reports KSAT 12.

The accident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. on the southbound shoulder of I-37, just south of the junction with US-281. This is just east of the downtown area.

Police say that a driver hit a male pedestrian as he was walking to his car on the southbound shoulder.

Medics transported the victim to an area hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities identified the victim as Andres Casarez.

The driver involved in the wreck did stop to render aid and to speak with police.

A full investigation is underway.
