Maria Federico, 78, claimed in 2-car crash in NE Amarillo
AMARILLO, TX – An elderly woman sustained fatal injuries last Thursday morning in a major two-vehicle collision in the northeast outskirts of Amarillo, reports News Channel 10.
The accident happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Lakeside Drive and FM 1912, which is west of TX-136 and northwest of Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
Police say that the driver of a northbound 2007 Chevrolet Silverado failed to heed a stop sign, causing a collision with a westbound 2014 Kia Forte.
A passenger in the Kia, identified as 78-year-old Maria Federico, died after transport to an area hospital.
The driver of the Kia, 62-year-old Daniel Rojas of Spearman, went to the hospital with serious injuries.
It’s unclear if anyone in the Silverado sustained injuries.
