Norma Duarte, 77, fatally injured in El Paso 2-car crash

EL PASO, TX – An elderly woman died Friday from injuries sustained two days prior in a major crash in southeast El Paso, reports KFOX 14.

The accident happened last Wednesday morning in the 9400 block of Alameda Avenue, near Walmart Supercenter and Academy Sports and Outdoors.

Police say that a 2017 Subaru WRX struck a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox when the driver of the SUV failed to yield right-of-way while turning from Alameda into the Walmart parking lot.

The impact of the crash threw a male passenger, identified as 59-year-old Jesus Adrian Duarte, from the Chevy. Medics transported Jesus Duarte to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities identified the deceased driver of the Chevy as 77-year-old Norma Duarte.

Nobody in the Subaru sustained injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
