Houston crash caused by drunk driver kills Florencio Ramirez

HOUSTON, TX – A wrong-way accident caused by an intoxicated driver on the north side of Houston killed a man early Saturday morning, reports KHOU 11.

The wreck happened around 5:15 a.m. on the Hardy Toll Road between the Sam Houston Parkway and East Richey Road. This is just west of George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Police say that a northbound vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle on the southbound side of Hardy Toll Road.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, identified as Florencio Ramirez, died after transport to an area hospital.

The wrong-way driver, identified as 26-year-old Jasmine Arteaga, went to the hospital with minor injuries. Authorities arrested Arteaga when blood testing results showed she was drunk at the time of the wreck.

Officials closed the Hardy Toll Road in the area of the crash while crews worked to clear the scene.
