Flavia Gomez, 50, struck, killed by drunk driver in Kyle
KYLE, TX – A 50-year-old woman died Monday in a crash caused by a drunk driver in the southwest suburbs of Austin, reports Fox 7.
The accident happened around 2 a.m. on the southbound shoulder of I-35 near Yarrington Road. This is just north of San Marcos on the far-south side of Kyle.
Police say that Flavia Arzate Gomez was standing in the southbound shoulder, adjusting a tarp on her vehicle, when another vehicle hit her.
Gomez succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Authorities arrested the driver, since identified as 21-year-old Gabriella Saurette, on a charge of intoxication manslaughter. Police say Saurette failed a field sobriety test and confessed to having consumed alcohol prior to driving.
