Matthew Amodio, 24, fatally wounded in Midland Co. crash
MIDLAND CO., TX – A 24-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Saturday in a three-vehicle crash along the interstate in southwest Midland, reports NewsWest 9.
The accident happened in the evening at the intersection of Business I-20 and County Road 1246. This is east of Midland International Air and Space Port.
Police say that a 2008 Ford 150 and a westbound 2004 Suzuki GRZ motorcycle collided in the intersection when the driver of the pickup truck neglected to yield the right of way. A westbound 2018 Hyundai Sonata then struck the motorcyclist.
The motorcycle operator, identified as Matthew Amodio, died at the scene of the wreck.
The driver of the pickup, since identified as 30-year-old Christian Laredo, fled the scene. Authorities located and arrested Laredo Sunday on a charge of an accident involving death.
A full investigation is underway.
