Melanie Dunahue, 35, struck, killed on I-35 near Royal Ln
DALLAS, TX – A 35-year-old woman died Wednesday morning when a vehicle struck her along the interstate in northwest Dallas, reports WFAA News 8.
Just before 1 a.m., emergency teams responded to a pedestrian accident along the southbound side of I-35E near Royal Lane, which is just east of Crown Park and west of the Asian Trade District.
Police say that Melanie Rachelle Dunahue ran onto the interstate after her dog got loose. A southbound vehicle hit the woman and her dog, killing them at the scene.
The driver involved in the crash stopped to render aid and speak with authorities.
Officials closed the southbound side of I-35E in the area of the wreck for several hours while crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
