Julia Grubb, 58, killed in crash at I-40 and Western

AMARILLO, TX – A 58-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries last Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision along the interstate in Amarillo, reports News Channel 10.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. at I-40 and South Western Street, which is northwest of Duniven Lake, near the Western Crossing shopping center.

Police say that the driver of a Toyota Tundra hauling a trailer was likely speeding when he lost control and rear-ended a BMW.

The Tundra ultimately travelled across the median and the opposite side of the interstate, striking the sign for Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-BQ.

A passenger in the Tundra, identified as Julia Grubb, died in the wreck.

The driver of the Tundra, identified only as a 50-year-old man from Arizona, went to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the BMW was not hurt.

A full investigation is underway.
