Deborah Henton, 70, killed in Jefferson Co. auto-ped crash
PORT ARTHUR, TX – A 70-year-old woman was fatally hurt Friday night when a vehicle struck her along a major roadway on the northeast side of Port Arthur, reports abc 12 News.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. on Gulfway Drive, or TX-87, between Beverly Drive and Orange Acres Drive. This is northeast of Port Arthur Memorial Stadium.
Police haven’t specified if the woman was walking on the sidewalk or in a designated pedestrian crosswalk when the vehicle hit her.
Medics performed CPR, but the victim, since identified as Deborah Henton, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The driver involved in the wreck stopped to render aid and speak with authorities. It’s unclear if they will face charges.
