Head-on semi crash in Dallam Co. kills Mark Baucom, 63
DALLAM CO., TX – A truck driver died Monday evening in a wrong-way crash along the highway in east-central Dallam County, reports abc 7 News.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. between Conlen and Stratford on US-54. This is about 90 miles northwest of Amarillo.
Police say that for unknown reasons, an 18-wheeler entered the wrong side of the highway and collided head-on with a second semi-truck.
The wrong-way driver, identified as 63-year-old Mark Baucom of Missouri, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the wreck.
Medics airlifted the second truck driver, since identified as 36-year-old Andrew Conley of Alabama, to an area hospital with serious injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
