Clint, Meaghan, and Connor McCaffety killed in Milam Co. crash

MILAM CO., TX – Two adults and a teen boy died Monday night in a multi-vehicle crash along the highway in south-central  Milam County, reports KCEN TV 6.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., emergency teams responded to a major accident in the 6000 block of TX-36. This is just southwest of Milano and about 68 miles northeast of Austin.

Police say that the driver of a 2025 Freightliner semi-truck was likely speeding when he lost control of the truck and rear-ended a Ford sedan and a 2015 Kia SUV. The SUV overturned after crashing into a ditch alongside the highway.

Medics transported the driver of the Kia to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

All three occupants of the Ford succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities identified them as 43-year-old Clint McCaffety, 39-year-old Meaghan Nicole McCaffety, and their 16-year-old son, Connor McCaffety.

Officials closed the highway for several hours while crews worked at the scene.

It’s unclear if the 26-year-old truck driver will face charges.

A full investigation is underway.
