Richard Acord killed in auto-ped crash on I-410 at Culebra

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A drunk driver struck and killed a 55-year-old man on the west side of San Antonio Saturday afternoon, reports KSAT News 12.

The accident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. along I-410 near Culebra Road, which is just west of Hardin Athletic Complex in the Crown Meadows area.

Police say that 36-year-old Elias Antonio Huitron was intoxicated when he hit a pedestrian underneath the overpass. Authorities arrested Huitron on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

The pedestrian, identified as Richard Acord, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

It’s not yet clear if Acord was walking in a designated crosswalk when the wreck happened.
