John Ochoa, 67, claimed in CUV crash on I-35 in Laredo

LAREDO, TX – An elderly man sustained fatal injuries Sunday in a crash involving a CUV and a semi-truck in west-central Webb County, reports LMTonline.

The accident happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. on the northbound side of I-35 near exit 12B. This is just south of Unitec Industrial Park in north Laredo.

Police say that for unknown reasons, an 18-wheeler hit the side of a CUV on the interstate.

The driver of the CUV, later identified as 67-year-old John David Ochoa, died after transport to an area hospital.

The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the collision.

Officials closed the northbound side of the interstate while emergency teams helped the victim and attended to a crash-related fuel spill.

A full investigation is underway.
