Emily Meyer, 30, claimed in wrong-way collision near Belton

MOODY, TX – A Temple woman died last Thursday afternoon in a McClennan County head-on crash along TX-36, reports Fox 44 News.

The accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on the Long Bridge over Lake Belton, also known as the TX-36 Moody Bridge. This is just west of Leona Park and east of White Flint Park 590.

Police say that the driver of an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was speeding when she lost control of the vehicle, entered the westbound side of the highway, and crashed head-on into a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The driver of the Chevy, identified as 30-year-old Emily Grace Meyer, succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the collision.

It’s unclear if the driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries or required hospitalization.

Officials closed both sides of the TX-36 Moody Bridge while emergency teams worked at the scene.

In addition to speed, wet roadways were also a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
