Solo crash at I-69 SB and Owasso kills Diedra Arroyo, 19
EDINBURG, TX – One woman died, and another woman sustained injuries last Saturday in a single-vehicle accident in Edinburg, reports myRGV.
Shortly after 1:15 a.m., emergency crews responded to a Hidalgo County fatality collision at the intersection of Owasso Road and the southbound frontage road of I-69. This is just north of Rio Grande Valley College.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a white 2009 GMC Yukon lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The GMC overturned, ejecting both the driver and passenger.
The driver of the GMC, identified as 19-year-old Diedra Lyneth Arroyo, died after transport to an area hospital.
Medics transported a passenger, identified as 19-year-old Tatiana Giselle Garcia, to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
Motorists likely encountered delays in the area of Owasso and the I-69 southbound frontage road while emergency crews worked at the scene.
