Michael Lopez, 44, killed in wrong-way crash near Clyde
CALLAHAN CO., TX – An Abilene man sustained fatal injuries last Thursday in a head-on collision in northwest Callahan County, reports KTXS 12 News.
The fatal crash occurred around 10 p.m. along FM 18 between FM 203 and FM 603. This is just west of Clyde and about twelve miles east of Abilene.
Police say that for unknown reasons, an eastbound pickup truck entered the westbound side of FM 18 and crashed head-on into a westbound Jeep Cherokee SUV.
Authorities pronounced the driver of the Jeep, since identified as 44-year-old Michael Adrian Lopez, deceased at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported the driver of the pickup truck, identified as 19-year-old Jason Riley Miller, to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
There were no additional passengers in either vehicle.
It’s unclear if Miller will face charges in connection to the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
