Samuel Dean Diaz, 21, killed in Midland motorcycle collision

MIDLAND, TX – A Rockport motorcyclist died Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash along the highway on the far west side of Midland, reports First Alert 7.

The accident occurred shortly before 7:15 p.m. at TX-191 and FM 1788 near the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center. This is just northwest of Midland International Air and Space Port.

Police say that a westbound motorcycle rear-ended a 2023 GMC Sierra on TX-191. The collision caused the motorcyclist to lose control of the bike, at which point he hit the guardrail and was thrown from the overpass.

The biker, identified as 21-year-old Samuel Dean Diaz, died at the scene of the collision.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Diaz was likely speeding and driving recklessly when the crash happened.

It’s unknown if Diaz was wearing a safety helmet while riding his motorcycle.

A full investigation is underway.
