Juan Carlos Perez, Gianncarlo Corriabustos killed in alleged DUI crash
MCALLEN, TX – Two men died Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision that was likely caused by an intoxicated driver in south-central Hidalgo County, reports ValleyCentral News.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m., emergency teams responded to news of a fatal accident at the intersection of North Colonel Rowe Boulevard and Nolana Avenue on the northeast side of McAllen.
Authorities say the crash involved a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a Nissan Altima. They’ve not yet specified the manner in which the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the sedan, identified as 54-year-old Juan Carlos Perez, died at the scene of the crash, as did a passenger from the pickup truck. The second victim was identified as Gianncarlo Corriabustos, 20.
Medics transported the driver of the pickup truck to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity. This person, identified thus far as a 40-year-old man, will likely face charges for driving while intoxicated.
A full investigation is underway.
