Landon Harris and 2 others killed in wrong-way crash on US-77

LEE CO., TX – Three people sustained fatal injuries Tuesday morning in a wrong-way collision along the highway in northeast Lee County, reports KCENTV 6.

The two-vehicle crash occurred around 7 a.m. on US-77 near FM 412, between Tanglewood and the Lee and Milam County lines.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound Toyota Tacoma entered the northbound side of US-77 and crashed head-on into a northbound Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Toyota, a passenger from the Toyota, and the driver of the Dodge all died at the scene of the accident.

Authorities identified the victims as 18-year-old Landon Harris, 36-year-old Jarrett Hawkins, and 49-year-old Daniel Phillips.

It’s not yet known if seatbelts were in use at the time of the collision, nor have police indicated if intoxication or fatigue may have factors.

Motorists likely faced a significant slow-down along US-77 in the area of the wreck while emergency teams worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
