Arturo DeHoyos III, 7, claimed in Laredo ejection crash

LAREDO, TX – A child sustained fatal injuries Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash along the highway in southwest Webb County.

According to KGNS News, the collision occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on US-83 near Market Street in the city of Laredo.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the 27-year-old driver of a southbound red Chevy Tahoe left the highway and hit a wall. The vehicle overturned, ejecting a 7-year-old passenger.

The unrestrained child, identified as Arturo DeHoyos III, died after transport to an area hospital.

Medics also transported the driver of the SUV and two other children from the vehicle to the hospital with unknown injuries.

There’s no word yet regarding charges.

A full investigation is underway.
