Ava Moore, 18, claimed in hit-and-run on Grapevine Lake

GRAPEVINE, TX – An 18-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run incident involving a jet ski on a north Texas lake over the Memorial Day weekend.

According to WFAA News 8, the incident occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Grapevine Lake near Oak Grove Park at the far-south end of the lake and on the north side of Grapevine.

Police say that 18-year-old Ava Moore was riding in a kayak on Grapevine Lake when two people on a jet ski struck her boat.

Upon reaching shore, one of the women on the jet ski stayed at the scene, while the other fled with a man. She and her male companion ultimately left the lake in a blue Toyota Corolla without stopping to render aid.

Medics attempted to resuscitate Moore at the scene, but she died after transport to an area hospital.

Authorities later located and arrested the woman on the jet ski who fled the scene, identifying her as Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez. Both Gonzalez and her male companion were found to be undocumented. Gonzalez is being held on a charge of second degree felony manslaughter.

A full investigation is underway.
