Nathaniel Yinger, 40, claimed in pedestrian crash near Burke
ANGELINA CO., TX – A 40-year-old Maryland man was struck and killed by an 18-wheeler last Friday in western Angelina County, reports CBS 19.
The auto-pedestrian collision occurred around 1 p.m. in a construction zone at the intersection of US-59 and the Diboll Relief Route near the city of Burke. This is about eight miles southwest of Lufkin.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a yellow Honda Fit left the roadway in the construction zone. The driver exited the disabled vehicle and was hit by a northbound Kenworth car hauler while crossing the highway on foot.
The pedestrian, identified as 40-year-old Nathaniel Jared Yinger, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the car hauler did not sustain injuries in the crash and is not expected to face charges.
A full investigation is underway.
