Fiery solo collision on Liberty Expy kills Fort Bliss soldier

FORT BLISS, TX – A 29-year-old Fort Bliss soldier sustained fatal injuries over the weekend in a single-vehicle accident on the northeast side of Fort Bliss.

According to El Paso Times, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday on Spur 601 near TX-375. This is just northeast of El Paso International Airport.

Police say that U.S. Army Spc. Brittney Delva lost control of her Volkswagen sedan while travelling eastbound on Spur 601. The vehicle left the roadway, hit a concrete barrier, and caught fire.

Authorities pronounced Delva deceased at the scene of the collision.

There were no other passengers in the Volkswagen at the time of the crash, and no other vehicles were involved.

It’s not yet clear what caused Delva to lose control of her vehicle.

A full investigation is underway.
