T-bone crash on US-87 at Brian Rd kills 1, injures 1
HOWARD CO., TX – An elderly man sustained fatal injuries Tuesday in a T-bone collision along the highway in south-central Howard County, reports NewsWest 9.
Emergency crews responded to word of a major crash at the intersection of US-87 and Brian Road around 3 p.m. This is just southeast of Elbow and about 10 miles south of Big Spring.
Police say that a northbound 2012 Buick Regal struck the passenger side of a southbound 2024 Volkswagen Jetta when the driver of the latter vehicle initiated a left turn on Brian Road.
The driver of the Jetta, identified as 85-year-old William F. Smith, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Medics transported the driver of the Buick to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both motorists were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
