Kia Forte rear-ends semi on US-62, killing Miranda Greene

GAINES CO, TX – A 31-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries Saturday in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck in west-central Gaines County.

According to Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on US-62 at County Road 213, just west of the city of Seminole. This is about 81 miles southwest of Lubbock.

Authorities say that the driver of an eastbound Kia Forte rear-ended a 2012 Peterbilt 18-wheeler that had stopped to make a left turn. It’s unclear if the driver was speeding, or if she was distracted and failed to notice the truck ahead of her.

The driver of the Kia, identified as Miranda Mariah Greene of New Mexico, died at the scene of the crash. There were no other passengers in the Kia when the accident happened.

The truck driver was not hurt in the collision.

A full investigation is ongoing.
