Dawson Chandler, 22, dies in Limestone County head-on crash

LIMESTONE CO., TX – A wrong-way collision involving an 18-wheeler in central Limestone County killed a 22-year-old Conroe man on Friday, reports KCENTV 6.

Emergency teams were called to a fatal crash just before 3 a.m. on TX-164 near County Road 396. This is just west of Groesbeck and about 35 miles east of Waco.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of an eastbound Chevy Silverado entered the westbound side of TX-164 and collided head-on with a westbound semi-truck.

Authorities declared the wrong-way driver deceased at the scene, identifying him as Dawson Chandler.

Medics transported the truck driver to a Waco hospital with non-critical injures.

The collision likely caused significant overnight delays along TX-164 between Groesbeck and Waco while emergency teams worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
