Derek Wischemeyer, 48, hurt in dirt bike crash on University Ave

LUBBOCK, TX – Serious injuries have been reported in connection to a dirt bike accident that happened Sunday in south-central Lubbock, reports everythingLubbock.

Shortly before 10 p.m., emergency crews responded to a major two-vehicle crash at the intersection of University Avenue and 108th Drive, which is just east of Lubbock-Cooper Elementary School.

Police say that the dirt bike was headed south when it collided with a westbound car. It’s unclear if one of the drivers may have failed to yield right-of-way or to stop at a red light or stop sign.

Medics transported the dirt bike operator, identified as 48-year-old Derek Wischemeyer, to an area hospital with serious injuries.

No other injuries have been referenced in connection to the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
