Neal Jackson, 43, claimed in auto-motorcycle crash near Ponta
CHEROKEE CO., TX – A 43-year-old motorcyclist lost his life over the Fourth of July weekend in a two-vehicle collision in east-central Cherokee County, reports CBS 19.
Police and emergency teams responded to a major accident around 7:30 p.m. in the area of CR 4401 and FM 2274 near Ponta. This is about 36 miles southeast of Tyler.
The investigation thus far indicates that a westbound motorcycle struck an eastbound pickup truck along CR 4401. The impact of the crash ejected the biker into the roadway.
Authorities declared the motorcyclist, identified as Neal Brian Jackson, deceased at the scene of the collision.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the crash.
At this time, it’s unclear which driver veered onto the wrong side of the roadway.
Drivers likely encountered delays along CR 4401 in the Ponta area while emergency crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
