Pedestrian crash at Hildebrand, Blanco claims Deborah Melendez

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A 68-year-old woman died Monday night when a vehicle struck her at a busy intersection in north-central San Antonio, reports KSAT 12.

Around 9 p.m., emergency crews responded to an auto-pedestrian accident at West Hildebrand Avenue and Blanco Road, which is east of I-10 in the Beacon Hill area.

Police say that Deborah Melendez entered the intersection when she did not have a walk signal. A westbound Nissan Sentra travelled on a green light into the intersection and struck the pedestrian.

Melendez succumbed to her injuries after transport to an area hospital.

The driver of the Nissan stopped to render and to speak with authorities. No charges have been filed in connection to the incident.

Drivers likely faced delays at Hildebrand and Blanco while teams assisted the victim and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
