Thalia Salinas, 4 others killed in Burnet Co. wrong-way crash
BURNET CO., TX – A fiery multi-vehicle collision claimed five lives last Friday evening in central Burnet County, reports KVUE abc.
The three-vehicle accident occurred around 6 p.m. along US-281 near Park Road 4 West, which is just south of Burnet and about an hour northwest of Austin.
Police say that a pickup truck hauling a trailer entered the wrong side of US-281 and crashed head-on into both a car and and SUV. The impact of the collision caused the SUV to overturn and ignite.
All five occupants from the SUV succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities identified the victims as Thalia Salinas, Desiree Cervantez, Ruby Cruz, Jacqueline Velazco, and Brianna Valadez.
Both the driver of the pickup truck and the driver of the car sustained non-critical injuries. It’s unclear if they required hospitalization.
The accident caused delays along US-281 near Burnet while emergency crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
