Jose Rosales, 2 others killed in auto-train crash near Cactus
MOORE CO., TX – A collision involving a train and and a vehicle claimed three lives on Wednesday in northwestern Moore County, reports News Channel 10.
Shortly before 2:45 p.m., emergency crews responded to the train tracks along US-287 near West County Road E. This is just south of Cactus and about an hour north of Amarillo.
Police say that the 74-year-old driver of a minivan carrying at least two passengers attempted to cross the railroad tracks in front of a train. The northbound train collided with the eastbound vehicle.
The driver of the minivan and two passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities identified the victims as Jose Rosales, Eliseo Calel, and Manuel Perez.
It’s unclear how many people were on the train at the time if the accident; none of them sustained injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
