Jeffrey Nevarez Jr. IDed as victim Coryell Co. head-on crash
CORYELL CO., TX – A 21-year-old Waco man died last Thursday night in a wrong-way collision along the highway in east-central Coryell County, reports KCENTV 6.
The two-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. along US-84 just east of Gatesville and about 35 miles southwest of Waco.
Police say that for unknown reasons, an eastbound Kia Stinger entered the westbound side of the highway and crashed head-on into a westbound truck. The latter vehicle was towing a livestock trailer at the time of the collision.
Authorities declared the driver of the Kia, identified as Jeffrey Lynn Nevarez Jr., deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck did not sustain injuries in the accident, nor were there any reports of injuries to animals in the livestock trailer.
The collision likely caused delays along US-84 in the area of Gatesville and South Mountain while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
