Auto-pedestrian crash near Troup claims Andrew Daigle, 16
CHEROKEE CO., TX – Emergency crews responded to a fatal auto-pedestrian collision in northeast Cherokee County last Sunday morning, reports CBS 19.
The accident happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. on FM 856 south of FM 4707. This is southeast of Troup, south of Henry’s Chapel, and about 25 miles southeast of Tyler.
Police say that a southbound pickup truck struck a teenager that was lying in the roadway.
The victim, identified as Andrew “Drew” Daigle, was a high school student with an autism diagnosis. On the day of the crash, officials say that 16-year-old Daigle had gone missing from his home earlier that day.
The driver involved in the accident stopped to render aid and to speak with police.
No charges have been filed thus far.
A full investigation is underway.
