Jennifer Ballejo, Joriko Rubio claimed in Cedar park crash
CEDAR PARK, TX – A two-vehicle collision at a major intersection in Cedar Park claimed two lives on Labor Day, reports CBS Austin.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., emergency teams responded to a fatality accident at the intersection of New Hope Drive and US-183, or North Bell Boulevard. This is just southwest of the Block House Creek neighborhood.
Police say that a northbound vehicle collided with a car when the driver of the latter vehicle failed to yield right of way when turning onto Bell Boulevard from a gas station.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Jennifer Ballejo, died at the scene of the crash.
Medics transported a 17-year-old passenger from the same car to an area hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the accident. Authorities identified this victim as Joriko Rubio.
The northbound driver required hospitalization for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Motorists likely faced significant delays in the area of North Bell and New Hope while crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
