Police investigate Houston Co. fatality crash near TX-7, FM 232
HOUSTON CO., TX – Two children died Wednesday in a wrong-way collision along the highway in eastern Houston County, reports KETK.
The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on TX-7 near the town of Berea, which is around nine miles east of Crockett and 45 miles southwest of Nacogdoches.
Police say that a westbound Ford F-350 entered the eastbound side of the highway and collided head on with a westbound Lexus carrying one adult, a 9-year-old boy, and a 5-year-old girl.
Both kids succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash.
Medics airlifted the driver of the Lexus to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity. The wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital via ground ambulance, also with unspecified injuries.
The collision likely caused lane closures and delays along TX-7 while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
